CAEfatigue (CF) Frequency Domain Analysis

CF permits the application of single PSD inputs with static mean loads plus deterministic loads like sine sweeps, consecutive sines, sine wave harmonics, etc.  CF will also permit the application of multiple events with multiple channels of PSD loading and the associated cross PSD loading.  We are super fast, can handle very large models, provide outstanding options for data output and visualization and have a vastly more functional and User friendly interface than any other software on the market.

CF permits the application of static superposition loading, modal participation factor loading or direct stress recovery output.  We are super fast because our software is written using the latest mathematical algorithms and data processing techniques.  We have outstanding options for data output and have a vastly more functional and User friendly interface than any other software on the market.

CAEfatigue (CF) is our flagship software that is used to conduct random response and fatigue evaluations of dynamic mechanical systems in the frequency domain or time domain.  The software is available for single input PSD loading with or without deterministic loads like sine-on-random, sine sweeps, sine harmonics, etc. The software also allows complex multi-event, multi-channel PSD loading with cross PSDs and the standard time domain analysis solutions like linear static superposition, the modal participation factor approach or the direct stress recovery approach.  The software can handle virtually any size model with extreme speed and accuracy.

  • CF provide a TIME2PSD toolset to condition and convert time signals into PSD matrix files. Just push a button and your files are converted to accurately produce both direct PSDs and cross PSDs to take into account channel phasing.
  • CF is much faster because our software is newly developed using the latest programming techniques and processing algorithms.
  • CF for time domain is not a “bolt on” application to our frequency domain tool, it is created from the ground up to ensure the most seamless analysis possible.
  • CF gives you total control over the use of RAM and the number of processor by default.

About the CAEfatigue Team

In 2012, under the direction of Dr. Neil Bishop, a team of academics came together to form CAEfatigue Limited with the primary goal of creating a simple but effective random response and fatigue calculation toolset that was lacking in the commercial offerings of that time.  The result was our flagship product CAEfatigue VIBRATION (CFV): a completely new, ground up software development effort relying on new calculation algorithms and technology inventions.  In 2020, the Team at CAEfatigue Limited agreed to become part of the Hexagon / MSC Software group and we have not looked back! Being part of a large technology driving organization has permitted the Team that brought CFV to the market, to continue to grow the technology platform, which has been rapidly adopted by many Customers as the BEST choice for random response and fatigue analysis. Dr. Neil Bishop

Managing Directory, MSC Software (former Founder of CAEfatigue Limited)

Dr. Neil Bishop was the Founder and CEO of CAEfatigue Limited and now serves as Managing Director at MSC Software. Dr. Bishop has been teaching fatigue life estimation techniques and dynamics to undergraduates, postgraduates and design engineers for over 30 years. His teaching style reflects the philosophy that dynamic analysis and fatigue life estimation techniques should be accessible to all design engineers, not just the specialists. Dr. Bishop carries this philosophy over to his role at MSC Software as he leads the Fatigue business development activities within the company.

Along with his teaching credentials, Dr. Bishop also has vast experience with real industrial problems and solutions, through his global experiences with major automotive, aerospace and other industry leaders. Dr. Bishop co-authored the NAFEMS publication “Finite Element Based Fatigue Calculations” and has numerous papers published related to his specialty. He is committed to providing world class solutions and technology to the Engineering community.
